Pendine Academy of Social Care (PASC)

Pendine Academy of Social Care offer innovative courses in Care and Personal Development. Our working partnership with Coleg Cambria have secured fully funded Apprenticeship places for Health & Social Care. We also have a Memorandum of Understanding with Glyndwr University and through training we hope to drive up standards in the social care sector.

About Us

​

Pendine Academy of Social Care is a vital part of the Pendine Park organisation, ensuring excellent internal staff training and offering expert, affordable training to others. We offer innovative courses in personal development, supervisory, mandatory and regulatory training.

​

Passionate about value-based training, our courses all promote dignity in care and a person centred approach.

​

We have strong sector links with Government and sector groups and lead the way in course development, which is reflected in the awards we have won. Our understanding of Government and Forum agendas means we can help you plan training against requirements.

​

We offer a complete range of tailored programmes to meet needs and budgets and deliver flexible training and ongoing programmes either on site at your business or at out Teaching Care Centre in Wrexham.

Working with small personal groups we understand individual learning styles, we promote independent learning, thinking and reflective practice, which leads to best practice. Our courses are innovative, fun and interesting so learners are engaged and feel motivated and confident.

The Courses We offer

​

The Apprenticeship Programme led by the Welsh Government is supported by the European Social Fund.

We offer foundation and higher apprenticeships and diplomas levels 2, 3 and 5 in Health and level 3 and 5 Social Care and Children and Young People.
 

Foundation Apprentice Level 2 is for those probably working mainly under supervision who want to increase their skills and take more responsibility (Care Practitioner, Support Worker, Daycare worker).
It also includes Essential Skills Wales

  • Application of numbers L1 or L2

  • Communication L2 or L3

  • Information, Communication and Technology L1

​

Apprentice in Health and Social Care Level 3 is for those who have some responsibility and sometimes work without supervision who want to develop their skills. (Senior Care Practitioners / Support workers, Daycare workers and Assistant Managers)

The qualifications are flexible and you can choose a pathway that suites your role as units are selected based on an individual’s learning requirements and the environment they work in, to create a tailored training package to suit the individual.

There are generally no laid down minimum entry requirements for Foundation/Modern Apprenticeships. However, apprentices are expected to successfully satisfy the following criteria:

  • In paid employment

  • Living or working in Wales.

  • Undertake skills assessment in literacy, numeracy and Digital Literacy

  • Employer agreement & understanding of Framework process.

  • Occupy a work role that is consistent with the level of qualification.

These apprenticeships and diplomas are funded by the Welsh Government, therefore, no course fees are payable.
