Types of Care
Pendine Park Care Organisation specialise in different fields of care and each of our homes have specific facilities in place to cater to these various needs. The care we offer, but are not limited to, includes:

General Nursing Care

Our Highfield home is registered to provide round the clock general nursing and complex care to adults of all ages, by a highly qualified team of Registered Nurses, Clinical Care Practitioners and Care Practitioners.
Highfield has two community units, Highfield and Cae Bryn. Our aim at all times is to tailor our care to enhance an individual’s quality of life within friendly, clean, safe, comfortable and attractive surroundings and with therapies and activities that enrich life.
Highfield was the first Care Home in Wales to achieve a ground-breaking end of life accreditation, The Six Steps Programme (previously Gold Standards Framework). The programme helps improve quality of care provided from the day a person arrives to the end of their life. There is a focus on reducing unnecessary hospital admissions and putting the residents' needs and preferences at the forefront.
Highfield is also ideal for those who require a period of convalescence or a short break in a supported caring environment. We promote independence with the emphasis on rehabilitation and have our own physiotherapy department.
There is a wide range of delicious home cooked meals and the spacious rooms and suites are designed to the highest possible standards. The tranquil setting and landscaped gardens are surrounded by open countryside yet are close to Wrexham town centre and all its amenities.
Residential Care (including Dementia)

Our Hillbury Care Home specialises in supporting those with Dementia in a safe comfortable environment.
Our expert team are very experienced and are chosen for their caring understanding nature, empathy and cheerfulness. Our excellent staffing levels assist our clients to have as much independence and personal support as possible.
There is a sense of community and we treat people the way we would like to be treated ourselves - with dignity, respect and compassion. There is a family feel and relatives often get to know other residents and their families too. We believe in promoting independence with support on hand when required and recognise that everyone is different, with different interests, so there is plenty of space, which means residents can socialise or do their own thing. And there is a safe courtyard garden so residents can enjoy the garden.
We are located in a conservation area and surrounded by seven acres of beautifully laid out mature gardens and trees. The shops, cafes and amenities of Wrexham town centre are within walking distance.
Residents can choose from a wide range of delicious home cooked meals and we even have our own chapel where our multi-denominational services and concerts are held.
There are many therapies and activities to enrich life including art and music therapies.

"Our guiding principles of dignity, independence, choice and fulfilment have always remained at the heart of everything we do."

Engaging with the community is important and trips and outings are popular – visits to the shops, cinema, the local pub or even a football match are always on the agenda. Our philosophy is to help people live their lives as they wish, so our residents can always chill out and do their own thing.
The opportunity for people to express themselves artistically through Art and Music is a joy to behold.
It is believed that we were the first nursing home in the UK to work with an Artist in Residence.

Convalescence / Respite

We believe care should be flexible so offering convalescence and respite for adults of all ages is an important care service to us.
For those recovering from an illness or operation we offer the reassurance of highly trained staff and a lovely setting to aid recovery.
Respite care allows families and carers to take short breaks from caring, safe in the knowledge that their loved one is being looked after by friendly and dedicated staff. It is an enjoyable break for both parties and the person coming to us can join in with activities or simply relax in a lovely environment and setting.
We often find that people enjoy their stay so much they book their next stay before they go home!

Therapies & Activities to Enrich

Our passion for people being able to live life as they wish means we have a person centred approach and therapies and activities are tailored to people's capacity.
This means lives are enriched in many ways from being involved in everyday life activities such as, watching the wildlife, gardening, reading, having tea with family and friends to activities such as Art, Music, Reminiscence and Laughter therapy, to film nights and concerts to trips out.
As a result we find people retain and often regain everyday life skills.
The opportunity for people to express themselves artistically through Art and Music is a joy to behold. It is believed that we were the first nursing home in the UK to work with an Artist in Residence, Sarah Edwards, in 1995. Her classes and one-to-one sessions are extremely popular.
Several residents have even put on their own displays and had exhibitions attended by the Mayor and other dignitaries. And visits to art galleries and museums, including Tate Liverpool and Lowry Salford, are part of our planned activities. We were delighted when Sarah received an accolade at the Wales Care Awards and thrilled to win an Arts, Business and Sustainability Award for work described as ‘truly inspirational’.
Our commitment to the Arts in enriching lives extends to Music. Seeing the reaction to Music therapy whether it is with The Halle Orchestra, The WNO Singing Doctors, visiting entertainers or our Enrichment Team is wonderful to see. And many family and friends enjoy being involved in these sessions too.
We are experts in therapies that enrich the lives of people with Dementia, including innovative reminiscence, pet, scent and colour therapies. Highly skilled staff means that we are able to support highly dependent people to enjoy many enrichment therapies and activitities.

Physiotherapy

We believe in promoting the individual’s independence and well-being through rehabilitation and support. Physiotherapy often plays a key role in rehabilitation.
Our onsite physiotherapy clinic has a team of Chartered Physiotherapists to work with our residents in all of the Pendine Park homes. There are many different needs such as MS, Stroke and Parkinsons (neurological based).
In line with our value of choice and flexible care there are also facilities for outpatients – helping us reach out into the community.
